I've worked out that the better looking someone is and the more
glamour they inject into the profile picture the more likely
their is to be crap

Geez... Kinda makes me want to
take down my picture! I don't
consider myself to be all that
spiffy -- but just in case, I'd
hate for it to reflect negatively
on my art! :P

Don't worry! I just established
that as long as you're nutty it
doesn't matter if you look good or
not. ;)

lol. I feel the same way. Art cant
be judged anymore than someones
face can. The old "Beauty is in the
eye..." cliche. Funny comparison
though.Geez... Kinda makes me want to take down my picture! I don't consider myself to be all that spiffy -- but just in case, I'd hate for it to reflect negatively on my art! :P

I assume here that Andrew is
suggesting that some artists try to
make up for "poor" artwork by
making their photos and biographies
more glamorous....thus bringing the
viewer's attention onto themselves,
rather than the art. In the long
run, of course, such deception
tends to be found out... although
we do live in a world where average
art that is cleverly marketed will
often outsell that produced by a
true talent who has lesser
marketing opportunities.
I personally couldnt care less if the painter has three heads; if I like the work, and am looking to buy, then it's the art that counts....I'm not hanging the actual artist on the wall.
One reaches a point in life eventually where these things become trivial...the artwork comes from within the person, irrespective of whether they look good, average or ugly. From what little I know, it seems that the art-world is obsessed with youthfulness and appearances, constantly seeking the next big thing and the next beautiful-looking artist. In the end, none of it really counts for anything.

I agree.

I agree.

Saddest part is that what Christine
said applies to all forms of art,
media and entertainment. Poor
talent finds it difficult to
compete with rich marketing.
